Q&A: Your Agile Coaching Questions Answered

Agile coaching can be a transformative process for your small business. However, it’s natural to have questions and concerns about this journey. Here, I answer some common questions based on queries I've received from clients and followers.

1. What Does an Agile Coach Do?

An Agile coach guides your team in understanding and implementing Agile principles and practices. They provide training, facilitate team communication, promote a culture of continuous improvement, and help resolve any roadblocks that arise along the way.

2. How Long Does Agile Coaching Take?

The duration of Agile coaching varies. It depends on factors such as the size of your team, your current way of working, and the specific goals you want to achieve with Agile. The coaching relationship can last from a few months to over a year.

3. How Much Does Agile Coaching Cost?

The cost of Agile coaching depends on various factors such as the coach's experience and qualifications, the scope of the coaching (team or organization level), and the length of the engagement. Always remember that Agile coaching is an investment in your business's future.

4. Can't We Just Learn Agile from a Book or Online Course?

While books and online courses can provide valuable knowledge, Agile is best learned by doing. An Agile coach provides hands-on guidance, real-time feedback, and tailored solutions that you can't get from a book or course.

5. What’s the Difference Between an Agile Coach and a Scrum Master?

A Scrum Master is a specific role in Scrum, an Agile framework. They facilitate the Scrum process for the team. An Agile coach, on the other hand, operates at a broader level, coaching teams (or the entire organization) in Agile principles and various Agile practices, not just Scrum.

6. How Will We Know if Agile Coaching is Working?

Signs that Agile coaching is working can include improved team collaboration, more consistent delivery, higher quality products, better responsiveness to change, and increased customer satisfaction. We can provide organisational and team based health checks to make sure the coaching journey is on track
